Housing on the island

I received information today about housing on the island.  I don’t see why I cannot just pitch a tent on the beach and live in paradise for my time on the island.  I guess the school is concerned I wouldn’t be able to get an internet connection out there.  But in all seriousness I have officially submitted my housing for first semester.

All first semester students must live in the on campus housing.  The only exceptions are if you are married and/or have a kid that you brining to the island.  I filled out the application today with my preferences.  You can have your own studio apartment, a 2 bedroom setup or a 3 bedroom setup.  My first preference was my own studio apartment.  I have had some GREAT roommates in college and some not so good ones.  I don’t need the stress of a bad roommate on top of it being my first semester at vet school in another county. Part of the application asked:

Do you smoke?

Can you have a roommate that smokes?

Do you drink alcohol?

Can you have a roommate that drinks alcohol?

Well, there is no way in hell I smoke nor could I ever live with someone that does.  My lungs get very irritated whenever I am around smoke and I get massive headaches even the smell of cigarettes.  Next 2 questions were interesting to answer….I know there is a catch somewhere.  Of course I have a drink here and there but not a huge ragger.  So I said, Yes to both but let’s just hope I don’t have a roommate.   I also requested a downstairs room (let’s face it, we all know how injury prone I am and I will bound to sprain an ankle or something and not be able to do stairs well).

So what is next??

My next goals are start working on my good code of conduct letter from the police.  I cannot get it too far in advance because they expire.  I also need to figure out if my insurance is going to pay for my vaccines I need or not.

What am I stressed out about?

Financial aid and how that works!! I filled out my FASHA and now I am not sure what I need to do from there.  Will they contact me? Do I need to contact them? Will they give me enough money?  Oh, and who is they??

Guess my day off tomorrow will be filled with stuff for Ross.  How do students do this when they are in school and studying for finals?? I would be STRESSED!!

Here is a link to an actual tour of a dorm room at ross for those that are curious!!
