Semester Olympics- representing Pink :) |
3rd semester classes-
Pathology 1, Pharmacology 1, Bacteriology, and Virology
How are we already halfway done with week 2?? This semester has started and doesn’t look
like it is slowing down anytime soon either.
Everyone knows second semester as HELL but some upper semesters say 3rd
semester is better than 2nd and others say 3rd is worse
than 2nd…so far I think it is worse (but I also didn’t mind 2nd
that much). I think 3rd
semester is the semester of accents.
Most of our professors are not originally from the United States and
have very strong accents. Trying to decipher
what they are saying can sometimes be difficult. We don’t have our first exam until week 5 so
right now we are just learning lots of information and trying to decide what is
important and what is not. I need to manage
my time better this semester too as I am tutoring Physio and trying to keep up
in my own studies. I am not a morning person and since our classes don’t start
until 1:00 on some days it is VERY easy to sleep in and get nothing done but I
know I will regret this later. Also need
to spend less time on facebook (but I think I say this every semester).
I had an amazing break island hoping. Antigua was more of an
older English crowd but the beaches were beautiful there and the shopping was
even better. There is nowhere (let me
repeat NO WHERE) to do any clothes shopping on Saint Kitts so being deprived of
shopping from a girl that lived 5 minutes away from 3 different malls is
hard. Let’s just say I sure helped out
Antigua’s economy.
One of Antigua's 365 beaches... |
Just some of the shopping...thank goodness my dad doesn't see this blog that often |
I am already trying to plan a trip back to Saint
Martin. This island was so fascinating
since it was half Dutch and half French.
It had 2 different languages, currencies and even electricity. We ate at
some AMAZING restaurants and shoved my face with tons of French pastries. I can still taste the fresh homemade raspberry
crepes!! I even visited my first nude beach…for those that are wondering if I
participated in the nudeness…nope I chickened out. I even visited Mullet bay which is beach you
see on all the youtube videos of planes landing inches above your head and
being pelted with sand when the 747 take off.
This is a MUST see!! Saint Martin is a lot more developed than Saint Kitts. It has an Istore (which is like an apple store), a MAC store (I am not joking you), and even a forever 21 (ok maybe it is not exactly like the one from home)
I can’t thank my mom enough for coming with me on this amazing
adventure. I can’t wait to start planning the next trip.
The only other exciting news is Kitts goes in for her preoperative
physical exam and blood work today for her spay. Part of the 7th semesters curriculum
is to spay an animal so they are always in need of animals. It is a win-win situation….I get a FREE spay
on Kitts and a future vet gets to practice her skills. A licensed veterinarian is near by the entire
time to make sure nothing goes wrong but I know she is in good hands.
